Welcome to our Sunderland District Homepage.
It is my belief that preventing a fire occurring in the first place is far better than dealing with the consequences of that fire. A large part of their role is responding to many different types of emergency incidents including Road Traffic Collisions, chemical spills and various types of rescue in addition to responding to fires.
The Sunderland District has seen significant reductions in most of our fire statistics over recent years however we recognise there are still issues we need to address. As a Service we are aware that the reduction of risk to our community cannot be the responsibility of one agency and community safety is enhanced by a multi-agency approach.
We are currently investigating the relocation of our Sunderland North station from Fulwell to Marley Pots - read our latest press release for more information or visit one of our information sessions.
Sunderland district work extremely closely with Community Safety within the City Council. They are supporting this year's Alcohol Awareness Week campaign “Enough is Enough”, fronted by Balance, the North East Regional Alcohol Office. This year’s campaign focuses on the amount of alcohol marketing young people are exposed to on a daily basis.”
